Everything you need to know about DSE Maharashtra CAP admission.
What is DSE Maharashtra? +
DSE stands for Direct Second Year Engineering. It allows diploma holders to directly join the second year (SE) of a BE/B.Tech program, skipping the first year. It is managed by DTE Maharashtra through a Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
Who is eligible for DSE admission? +
Students who have completed a 3-year diploma in Engineering/Technology from a recognized polytechnic in Maharashtra (or other states with conditions) are eligible. Minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories) is required.
How are cutoffs calculated for DSE? +
DSE cutoffs are based on your diploma aggregate percentage (not MHT-CET score). The last admitted candidate's diploma % in each CAP round becomes the cutoff for that round, branch, and category.
What documents are required for registration? +
You need: Diploma marksheets (all semesters), leaving certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, Aadhaar card, passport photo, and gap certificate (if applicable). Always check the official DTE website for the latest list.
Can students from outside Maharashtra apply? +
Yes, but only for seats in the open (AI) category. Home University, State Level, and reserved category seats are available only to Maharashtra state candidates. Out-of-state candidates compete only for AI (All India) seats.
How many CAP rounds are there? +
Typically 3 CAP rounds are conducted. Round 1 has the highest cutoffs. Cutoffs generally drop slightly in Round 2 and Round 3. After Round 3, remaining vacant seats may be filled through institute-level admission.
Are the cutoffs on this site official? +
No — the cutoffs shown are indicative estimates based on historical DSE CAP data with category-wise adjustments. Always verify actual cutoffs from the official DTE Maharashtra website (dtemaharashtra.gov.in) before making decisions.
What is the difference between Govt, Aided, and Unaided? +
Government colleges are fully state-funded with lowest fees (around ₹8,000–15,000/year). Aided colleges receive partial government grants. Unaided colleges are privately funded with higher fees (₹60,000–1,50,000/year). All are AICTE approved and affiliated to their respective universities.
